•All stations are connected through a single cable

•Terminator at each end(echo cancelation)

•Transmission is passed back and forth from terminator.

•Each message has address of destination.

•All stations listen the message.

Networking Topologies

•Point to point vs multidrop

•P2p is between 2 nodes only. Others cannot listen transmition.

•e.g.  Telephone communication and leased line etc.

•Very costly.

•All the resources are held by two nodes only.

•Only feasible for continues communication.

Multidrop

•In multidrop all the computers connected listen to transmission  but only the one having its address receives it.

•Shared transmission medium.

•Multiplexers help in time/frequency multiplexing.
